Roach Motel

Coté has eloquently explained an idea I threw at him this morning, and inspired me to think more on it. He described my idea as a Roach Motel Buster (lovely name!); it is a service to aggregate your internet stuff. I find it extremely difficult to keep up with the various flickr / weblog / del.icio.us accounts of my family, friends and coworkers. So I find that I don’t keep up with it. This service will help do that, but differently I think than other tools have done. The service allows users to tell others where their data is. And more, it will help to liberate your data by making it accessible from a person point of view instead of a vendor or site point of view (thanks to Coté for expanding the idea to locating data in places like ebay, amazon, epinions, blog post comments, …).

Of course Coté puts a subversive spin on this idea, which I love.

On top of this accumulation of data can be layered RSS aggregators (like feedburner) and maybe even relationships so you can find all your siblings' internet stuff. Or your CompSci teacher from 20 years ago who was, like, way ahead of the curve. For now I’m going to review Coté's best of breed list and figure it all out.

It seems that there must be a way to get the OPML out of Bloglines, so add that to the list of things to aggregate. I know I exported it once before, it would be nice if it was available somewhere as a URL or RSS feed. So where’s the project? I got stuff I need aggregated.
